What you’re describing is often called emotional contagion—a Emotional Contagion where we unconsciously “catch” the feelings of others. For example, being around someone anxious can make you feel tense, even if nothing is wrong in your own life.
There’s also something known as Empathy, which is the ability to understand and feel what others are experiencing. People who are highly empathetic—sometimes called “highly sensitive”—tend to absorb emotions more deeply.
Being empathetic is a strength—but absorbing emotions without boundaries can lead to burnout, especially in people working in helping professions (like psychology).

-
Ground yourself: Focus on your body, breath, or environment
-
Emotional separation: Imagine a boundary between your emotions and others’

Reflect later: Ask, “What was I feeling before this interaction?”
